Michael Baker International is seeking an energetic junior planner who is eager to learn and be an integral member of our hazard mitigation and resilience planning team in New Jersey. As a Planner I, you will work on grant application development, hazard mitigation plan updates, and supporting other climate resilience planning and policy projects for our clients. The position requires knowledge and enthusiasm for research, data compilation, public policy and governmental regulations, planning involving communities, infrastructure, transportation, water or similar sectors.RESPONSIBILITIESResearch best practices and strategies to address impacts of climate changeSupport updates of hazard mitigation plans for local communities, countiesPerform GIS mapping and analysis to support risk and vulnerability assessmentsGather data and information on climate change, natural hazards, and other relevant topics.Draft reports and other planning documentsAssist planning and execution of stakeholder engagement and outreachHybrid position; In-office requirements for production and meetingsSome local travel to meetings within state/regionPROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTSBachelor's Degree or higher in Urban and Regional Planning or related field2 - 5 years of work experience in the fieldInterested in reducing the impacts of climate change through planning.Ability to work in a time-sensitive, fast-paced team environment.Proficiency with Microsoft Office required, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite preferred.Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, are essential to success in this role.Experience and competency in GIS preferredBENEFITSWe offer a comprehensive benefits package including:Medical, dental, vision insurance401k Retirement PlanHealth Savings Account (HSA)Flexible Spending Account (FSA)Life, AD&D, short-term, and long-term disabilityProfessional and personal developmentGenerous paid time offCOMPENSATIONThe approximate compensation range for this position is $71,000 - $83,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
