Assistant Security Supervisor - Schomburg Center Department: Security Employment Type: Full Time Location: Schomburg Center Reporting To: Luis Columbie Compensation: $67,000 - $70,000 / year Description Overview The Assistant Security Supervisor will assist the Security Supervisor with daily security operations at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture to ensure a safe patron and employee environment. We are looking for someone we can count on to: Own : The safety and security of patrons and staff. Additionally, oversee collection security Teach : Proper security protocols and leadership Learn: Best way to mitigate risks and respond to challenges Improve : Ways to respond to challenges of security Some expectations for this role are that within: 1 month , this person will: Establish relationships with staff and stakeholders 3 months , this person will: Establish an excellent relationship with all NYPL Stakeholders at the Schomburg Center 6 months and beyond , this person will: Establish ways of improving response to security challenges Responsibilities Be responsible for assisting in the supervision of security staff, security operations and security systems including supervising and monitoring the performance of all Library and contract guards. Assist the Security Supervisor with the day to day operations of Security, supervision, training and discipline of security staff. Responds to emergencies (fire alarms, bomb scares, burglar alarms, etc). Investigates reports of crimes, and conducts confidential investigations as directed. Review all security related reports, and notify the Security Supervisor in all cases requiring additional attention. Assist in maintaining all security electronics (Cameras, Access control system, etc). Communicates regularly with the Security Supervisor to discuss security related issues. May be required to be available during events held at any NYPL facility. May be required to respond to emergencies during non-scheduled hours. Prepare post assignments as required for all Library programs. Required Education, Experience & Skills Required Education & Certifications High School Diploma and NYS Security Guard License Required Experience 5 years of Security Supervisor work experience Required Skills Accountability and Professionalism Job-Specific Knowledge and Skills Problem Solving Ability to work as a liaison between the Library and first responders (NYPD, FDNY, EMS). Security Supervisory experience CCTV capabilities Computer skills ( Microsoft, Google, Zoom, etc) Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities Manage Security Guards More...
