Position Summary: JMT is seeking a Water Resources Design Engineer to join the Trenton, NJ Water Resources group. The Design Engineer will perform design tasks under the supervision of a registered professional engineer. JMT is looking for a design engineer who is nimble, adaptable, and resourceful to join our team in delivering projects throughout the region. The candidate should have strong organizational and communication skills. U.S. Residency Required. Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesIdentify watersheds, drainage patterns, and soil conditionsDelineate drainage areas to points of interest for analysisPerforming field visits and site reconnaissance as dictated by the project requirementsComplete land cover and time of concentration calculationsDevelop design criteria based on the federal, state, and local ordinances and guidance manuals.Design and analysis of stormwater management practicesDesign drainage networks including the pipe, slope, and outfall locationsPerform Hydrologic and Hydraulic analysisDevelop Post Construction Stormwater Management plans and detailsDevelop Erosion and Sediment Control plansComplete permit applications for state and local agenciesUtilize general engineering principles and practices dailyPrepare technical reports of design approach, methodology, and summary of resultsDevelop construction cost estimates, quantity take offs, prepare specifications, and package construction documents for bidCoordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline with the established quality Nonessential Functions and ResponsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assigned Required Experience Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering with emphasis in Water Resources0-5 years of experience in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources EngineeringStrong oral and written communication skillsSuccessful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) ExamProficient in Microstation Inroads S&S and AutoCAD Civil 3D Preferred ExperienceHydrologic Modeling experience using TR55 / TR20 and Rational MethodologiesHydraulic Modeling software experience using HEC-RAS, HY-8, HydroCAD, Pondpack, StormCADStormwater Management design experienceErosion and Sediment Control design experienceGreen Stormwater Infrastructure design experienceStorm Drain design experienceExperience MicroStation and ORD SUDAKnowledge of New Jersey Department of Transportation design standards and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Permitting processes Working ConditionsWork is performed within a general office environment 75% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 50 lbs) may be required as needed.Applicant will need a valid driver license and mode of transportation to conduct site visits, field investigations, or inspections.
