This role is responsible for performing electrical power systems analysis for renewable developers, utilities, and EPC contractors. As part of this role, the successful candidate will prepare detailed power system models, perform advanced dynamic and steady state simulations, and issue technical reports detailing the methodology, modeling, and results of the study. Responsibilities:Prepare and oversee the development of detailed power system models of wind generation, solar PV generation, battery energy storage system (BESS) facilities;Perform load flow, short circuit, and stability studies for renewable developers and utilities;Prepare accurate and detailed technical reports, correspondence, documentation, and calculations;Engineering expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of technical problems;Accountable to follow applicable codes and standards, policies and procedures;Mentor and provide guidance to developing engineers within the team;Effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring of work and design activities with multidisciplinary team members;Make decisions regarding engineering complexities and methods. Requires use of advanced techniques and modifications and extension of theories, concepts, and practices in relation to electrical power systemsContinuous improvement of job-related engineering, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performanceCandidate Specification :We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:Master of Science or higher in Electrical Power Engineering or Electrical Engineering is required with at least 2 years of experience. Alternatively Bachelor of Science with at least 3 years experience.Thorough knowledge of electric power system network analysis, transmission planning and assessment techniques.Proficient in performing load flow, short circuit, and transient stability studies in any of the following programs: CYMCAP, ETAP, SKM, PSS/E, PowerFactoryProficient in the application of NERC and Transmission Planner/Planning Coordinator planning reliability standards and criteriaFamiliar with the application of IEEE and IEC standards in the design and study transmission, distribution, and generation facilitiesExcellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to travel to attend stakeholder meetings, working groups and conferencesDesirable qualities include :Master's degree in Electrical Power Engineering or Electrical EngineeringAbility to obtain Professional Engineer licensure within two years of commencing employmentParticipation in stakeholder and industry committee activitiesExperience in performing electromagnetic transient analysis (PSCAD/ EMTDC, ATP, EMTP-RV)Experience in writing equipment specificationExperience in harmonic and GIC analysisKnowledge in Python and EPCL programmingEquality, diversity and inclusionWe put equality, diversity and inclusion at the heart of our business, seeking to promote fair employment procedures and practices to ensure equal opportunities for all.
