Location: Albany, NY Category: Promotional Posted On: Tue Aug 27 2024 Job Description: The Student Service Center (SSC) is seeking to fill a Financial Aid Advisor position. The SSC is a One-Stop customer service organization designed to help students and families in various service areas. The Student Service Financial Aid Advisor will advise students and their families with matters relating to their Financial Aid, Student Accounts and other Student Affair office policies and protocols. Counseling and advising support will be conducted primarily via phones while also assisting via chat and emails. This professional will also help train, supervise, and support Student Assistants working in the Student Service Center. Primary Responsibilities: Serve as a Student Financials and Enrollment Management Specialist within the office of the Student Services Center (SSC) Provide direct customer service to students and families contacting the SSC via phone, email, chat and in-person Develop and maintain ability to incorporate applicable procedures and policy within the SSC from: Financial Aid, Billing, Registrar and various other Student Affair activities as applicable Assist the Director of the SSC in developing viable strategies for improved customer service delivery Assist the Director of SSC in developing and improving formal/written policies and procedures and training materials. Assist in supervising Student Assistants in providing first-contact support to SSC; Support Student Affair and Campus events such as Open House, Orientations, etc. Participate in professional development through training, research, and or attendance at professional meetings. Complete special projects as assigned. Essential Functions: Ability to quickly learn and effectively apply knowledge of financial aid, billing and related policies and procedures. Strong computer skills and proficiency (e.g., Microsoft, Integrated Administrative Service System (IAS)) Strong customer service and counseling skills. Supervising student team (e.g., training, scheduling, feedback) Functional and Supervisory Relationships: Director, Student Service Center Student Financial Service colleagues Student Affairs colleagues Various University at Albany unit Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting. One year experience working in a higher education environment or related field assisting students providing direct customer service and advisement. Preferred Qualifications: One year experience advising students and families on Student Financial Services (e.g., Financial Aid, Billing) Experiencing working with PeopleSoft Integrated Administrative Services (IAS) system.
