Now Offering $3,000 Signing Bonuses for all new Servicepersons $6,000 Signing Bonus for CDL A or B License Holders (must have air brake and passenger endorsement) at time of hire Summary New Jersey Transit may have openings at any of the following Locations: Howell, Neptune, Egg Harbor, Hamilton, Camden, and Turnersville. Under the direction of the Superintendent or General Foreman, a Bus Serviceperson is responsible for checking and maintaining of all NJ TRANSIT buses for daily services. Report any damages or repairs needed as directed by the supervisor. Roles and Responsibilities: Check bus fluids and maintain required levels Change fluids Clean inside and around buses Shift and drive buses in and around the garage Steam engines Change tires (utilizing the appropriate equipment) Complete forms required in carrying out duties of the position Training: NJ TRANSIT's Maintenance Department offers a six (6) day, comprehensive job-related training for all new Servicepersons at our Training Facility in Newark, NJ. NJ TRANIST's Bus Operational Training Department offers up to 30 days of classroom instruction to assist new Serviceperson hires with obtaining a NJ Commercial Learner's Permit, which is an essential requirement of the Serviceperson position. In order to have sucessful job placement and continued employment with NJ TRANSIT as a Serviceperson: Upon receiving an offer, you must purchase an CDL Permit Examination Ticket at a NJ MVC location, and complete the IdentoGo fingerprinting process prior to starting All new hires must obtain a Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) valid in the state of New Jersey within thirty (30) days of their start date. A Serviceperson must successfully complete both bus maintenance and bus operational training, including the receipt of a Class A/B Commercial Driver License valid in the state of New Jersey with a passenger endorsement and no disqualifying restrictions. Education, Experience, and Qualifications: Light professional mechanical experience preferred; diesel experience a plus but not required Be twenty-one years (21) years of age Possess a valid NJ Driver's License with three (3) years of driving experience Must be eligible to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement or possess a valid NY/PA CDL with Passenger and Airbrake endorsement Be able to work any shift in keeping with seniority-based scheduling. Hours vary depending upon the Bus Garage.
