Phillips 66 & YOU - Together we can fuel the future The Maintenance Mechanic - Machinist, Rodeo Refinery , under the general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, performs any and all work for which qualified in a safe and efficient manner, including but not limited to: inspecting, adjusting, disassembling/reassembling, troubleshooting and servicing a wide variety of equipment, including pumps, compressors, fans, conveyors, hydraulic systems, valves and actuators. This position requires the successful completion of an online assessment. Machinist responsibilities include: Calculating dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as Micrometers and vernier calipers. Machining parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, surface grinders and horizontal boring mill. Studying sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerance. Making sketch utilizing old part and tolerance and findings sheet. Maintaining industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Performing DCI, machine, and reassembly of rotating equipment. Cleaning and lubricating machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter. Dismantling Rotating equipment (blowers, centrifugal and positive displacement pumps) using hand tools and power tools, to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed. Fitting and assembling parts to make or repair machine tools. Designing fixtures, tooling, and parts to meet engineering needs. Demonstrating the ability to Machine pump shaft to include bearing fit, bearing nut threads, keyway and bore. Responsibilities May Include: Participating and/or planning the safety process i.e. JSA's/TSA's and performing safety observations to assure all plans are in compliance with applicable government regulations and established company policies, procedures and practices. Working with Operations and other groups to fully understand the scope, priority and timing needed for maintenance repairs. Ensures all work is completed in a safe, environmentally-compliant, and cost effective manner. Reviewing work prior to start, assuring materials, resources, information and tools on hand to achieve high levels of craft productivity. Executing/completing daily and preventative maintenance work orders. Initiating equipment defect elimination by identifying problem causes, taking immediate corrective action when practical, and recommending solutions to supervisors and engineers. Developing/modifying maintenance or safety procedures related to maintenance work processes; individually or as part of a team. Reviewing technical manuals/procedures/specifications (in English) to effectively perform assigned work. Serving as member of HazMat Team, participate in specialized training and provide response. Required Qualifications: Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions 18 years of age or older Maintain a valid driver's license High School Diploma or GED equivalent Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Note: information regarding TWIC qualification standards may be found at Must be willing and able, with or without accommodation, to perform/comply with the following: Work overtime (including weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts) Respond to afterhours callouts Lift up to 50 pounds Work in enclosed spaces such as tanks and silos Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines Climb up to 200 feet in height; work at elevated heights Work around chemicals, including acids and bases Wear Nomex fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toed shoes, ear/eye protection) Maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly Ability to be on call and respond to callouts during off hours due to business necessity Work outside in harsh weather conditions Preferred Qualifications: 4 or more years of industrial maintenance experience in troubleshooting, servicing and repairing rotating equipment, conveyors, valves, hydraulic systems and other similar industrial equipment Completion of an accredited mechanical technology school certificate or degree, level 4 NCCER certification, or other accredited apprenticeship program that includes technical knowledge certification or 5 or more years of industrial maintenance experience and has passed an accredited technical knowledge certification Computer proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook SAP/CMMS experience Military training and experience Proactive and results-oriented Able to effectively interact with all organizational levels and value diversity Demonstrated communications and teamwork skills The Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex is a state-of-the-art facility processing renewable feedstocks (waste oils, fats, greases, and vegetable oils) to produce vital transportation fuels, including renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuels for California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. Compensation The selected candidate may be brought in at Journeyman or Non-Journeyman level depending on credentials and experience, which will inform the starting pay rate. The current Non-Journeyman starting rate is $35.83 per hour, with fully qualified Journeyman pay currently $55.13 per hour. These rates will increase by 3.5% in February 2025. This position is also eligible for VCIP (Variable Cash Incentive Program) with a target of 7.5% of earnings (including base pay and overtime).
