Job Summary: The Security Technician will be responsible for using corporate protocol to greet facility guests and new patients, assigning the proper security badge to each visitor, monitoring the interior and exterior of the facility, checking to make sure that certain doors are locked when they are supposed to be and reporting any suspicious activity to the local police department immediately. The Security Technician will handle interior and exterior security through manual observation and the use of on-site cameras. The Security Technician will also monitor, reply, and address work order request during their respective shifts via WBC's Facilities and EVS work order inbox. Responsibilities Include: Patrol assigned areas Assist with daily mail and package delivery/distribution Provide assistance to patients, visitors, and colleagues Assist with various unit responsibilities (unit searches, safety secure patients, monitor visiting hours, etc.) Check for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked ingress/egress and unauthorized persons Perform monthly preventative maintenance and required equipment checks Elevator phones Outside emergency phones Door alarms and panel Building alarms Respond to all codes and alarms Monitor, reply, and address basis work order request during their respective shifts Coordinate with local police, fire and emergency personnel Respond to medical emergency calls including slips and falls in the facility or on the grounds Perform scheduled and random checks of designated areas throughout the facility to check for any security breaches Utilize the company's visitor policies to issue visitor passes and make sure that each visitor is accompanied by an employee before visiting the facility Assist the maintenance staff in securing the area during a maintenance emergency Collaborate with other members designated by Walden to ensure that the facility is safe at all times Maintain professional and effective relationship with the local police and fire departments Qualifications: Education: High school diploma/GED required Experience: 2+ years' experience in the security field, or a certificate indicating completion of a security course Knowledge Must possess strong group communication skills Proven history of working well in stressful situations Required competencies: Strong organizational and communication skills Attention to detail and ability to prioritize independently Ability to multi-task in a changing and fast paced mental health environment Ability to work in a highly collaborate, team environment Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Supervision Received: Reports to Director of Facilities and Plant Operations or designee Environmental Conditions: Interaction with individuals with mental illness. General medical office environment. Physical Requirements: Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift 10 to 75 pounds.
