Location: Rochester, NY Category: Grant Positions Posted On: Thu Aug 29 2024 Job Description: Function of Position: This position will report to the Assistant Director, Financial Aid. Responsibilities include providing support and resources to eligible students to help them complete their courses and graduate. This includes managing programs such as Wegmans Scholars and MCC Assist. Please note that this position is partially funded by a grant through 2023. This is a temporary, grant-funded position that may be renewed annually contingent upon availability of grant funding and performance reviews. This position is eligible for paid time off and benefits. Examples of Duties & Responsibilities: Primary Functions: Contact and/or meet with students on a walk-in and/or appointment basis. Review applications to determine acceptance for services. Provide professional interaction and assessment of needs, including academic, social, and personal. Serve as a conduit for support and referral services for financial aid, advisement, and other identified student and academic needs. Provide assistance navigating internal and external systems with county, state, and federal programs. Provide targeted outreach and support to identified students. Document contact information and provide documentation for reporting purposes to College, federal, state, and county agents. Meet with department members and collaborate on student programs, such as financial literacy events, with the Financial Aid Office. Provide assistance, coordination, and support, as assigned, for a variety of functions, including student development workshops and special programs. Develop, update, and maintain department marketing materials, including social media and virtual community engagement. Prepare monthly reports for the Financial Aid Assistant Director, Financial Aid Director, Associate Vice President, and MCC Foundation, as required by funding sources and/or management. Assist with Downtown Campus staffing. Serve as a liaison to various College departments to assist students and community organizations. Assist with office coverage, as needed. Participate as a team member in the development of annual strategies and budgets. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director, Financial Aid. Secondary Functions: Assist with assessment of services provided. Assist with outreach and onboarding activities. Work with the team to develop workshops and programs to complement the student experience and create a sense of belonging, leading to retention. Assist with the support, development, and implementation of College-wide retention efforts. MCC Expectations: Adheres to the College Code of Conduct. Job Requirements: Required Qualifications: Earned Associate's degree in Social Work or related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution. One (1) year of experience in a higher education setting. Preferred Qualifications: Earned Bachelor 's degree in Counseling or Social Work or related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution. Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently. Additional Information: Salary: This position has an expected salary of $42,000 per year. MCC offers a Flexible Work Policy for benefit eligible employees. Types of flexible work arrangements include flextime/staggered shifts, remote work/telecommuting and compressed work schedule. The availability of flexible work arrangements varies by division, department, and position, based upon business and operational needs. Limitations to flexible work arrangements are outlined in the official policy.
