Job Description General Description The LaGuardia Community College (LaGCC) ACCES Pre-Employment Transition Services Program assists students with disabilities with a successful transition from postsecondary education to meaningful employment opportunities. The Student Support Services Coordinator will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting students throughout their academic journey. They will provide support services that assist students with accomplishing their career and/or employment goals. They will also assist with coordinating academic support services for students within the program. This position is supervised by the grant designated Project Manager (within the Division of Student Affairs). This is a grant-funded, hybrid position through the Research Foundation of CUNY. Appointments are subject to availability of funding and satisfactory performance. Duties and Responsibilities: Serve as primary point of contact regarding inquiries about and the implementation of student support services. Oversee the recruitment, training, and supervision of tutors and other part-time student support staff. Develop, implement, and manage student support programs, including academic advising, tutoring services, and counseling. Coordinate workshops, seminars, and events aimed at student development and success. Conduct regular check-ins to monitor students' academic progress and address any issues or barriers they may encounter. Identify students in need of additional support services and refer them to appropriate resources such as academic advisement, tutoring, counseling, and/or career services. Collaborate with faculty, staff and other campus stakeholders to facilitate solutions to students' academic and psychosocial challenges. Assist with the development and facilitation of workshops, seminars, etc. related to the link between academic and career success. Participate in recruitment and retention efforts by engaging with current/prospective students and families during outreach events/activities. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding available services and resources. Maintain accurate and confidential student records, and prepare reports and assessments related to student academic progress and support services activities. Other Duties Other duties as assigned Qualifications Associate's degree. Experience in academic advising, student services, or related educational field. At least 3 years of experience working with students with disabilities. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Familiarity with post-secondary education systems and working with diverse student populations from cross-disability backgrounds. Excellent written, verbal communication and organizational skills. Bilingual preferred but not required. About LaGuardia Community College LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York/CUNY. LaGuardia offers more than 60 associate degree and certificate programs. Upon graduation most students transfer to four-year colleges, typically in CUNY, to complete their baccalaureate degrees. Graduates of career programs such as Nursing, Computer Technology, and Veterinary Technology enter the workforce. Seventy-three percent of LaGuardia students receive some form of government financial aid.
