Job Description MAIN FUNCTION: Assists in planning, scheduling and assisting of renovations, maintaining and preventative maintenance and repair work of building, systems and utilities. Reports to the Director Facility Engineering. Provides technical direction and assistance to electrical technician and other assigned/staff as needed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Schedules and supervises preventive maintenance and repair work to electrical. Prepares and submits maintenance reports and costs as required. Assures compliance with Hospital electrical and safety codes as well as State and Federal codes. Also maintains up to date electrical prints of distribution systems, generators and fire alarm systems PMs and code requirements. Assures all safety measures are in effect during maintenance operation. Assists in disaster and fire prevention programs as directed. Trains and evaluates performance of assigned maintenance personnel. Assures Hospital tools and equipment are used properly and maintains effective controls according to departmental procedures. Estimates quantities of materials and supplies needed for maintenance operations and submits requires according to departmental and Hospital procedures. Responsible for purchasing daily and routine supplies according to Hospital and departmental policy. Estimates, projects, and accounts for operating budget of plant engineering division of Facilities Engineering Department. Also requests capital equipment needs as conditions dictate. Maintains open communication with other Hospital and departmental staff. Functions as a working Lead man completing assigned tasks as necessary. Promotes and fosters the mission and philosophy of the Hospital during performance of job duties and community activities. Actively supports and participates in Hospital's Continuous Quality Improvement endeavors. Performs other related duties as assigned. This position requires you to follow standard precaution guidelines in all work situations. Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position. Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer's needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience with the Arnot Health. B.S. degree in engineering or equivalent. EXPERIENCE: Five years minimum experience and background in electrical plumbing and HVAC systems required. Three to five years supervisory experience. Able to work with high voltage switchgear. Working knowledge of electronic controls. CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS: No CPR required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Stands, walks, crouches, kneels, climbs, carries and lifts (50 to 75 lbs.); handles and manipulates tools and equipment. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Familiarity with all building codes. Ability to read blue prints, technical manuals and reports. Knowledge of construction and procedures. Ability to interact with a variety of people including employees, physicians, patients, outside agencies, contractors, etc. Must hold a valid driver's license and have clean driving record. Must be trustworthy in safeguarding confidential information. EXPOSURE CATEGORY: Category III. Tasks that do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. And Category I tasks are not a condition of employment. Requirements
