This job was posted by : For more information, please see: Overview The Nutritional Services Division at the Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH( is currently seeking a full-time Food Service Worker. The duties will include food preparation, set up and break down of dining areas, delivery of food to the units, operation of food line, stocking supplies, washing dishes and pots/pans, cleaning and sanitizing kitchen area. The hours for this position are 11am to 7:30pm and will include working weekends and holidays. The Vermont Veterans' Home is an experienced residential and healthcare campus for Veterans. As of July 14, 2024, the step 1 rate for pay grade 13 will be $15.86 per hour.The hourly rate may be negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Environmental Factors Work is performed in an institution kitchen during an assigned shift. Incumbents may deliver food carts to various dining areas. Hazards include work with utensils and equipment typically found in a commercial kitchen environment, which include but not limited to, electrical and gas-fueled equipment, ovens, and chemicals used in cleaning. Frequent exposure to hot food items, serving trays, and heated equipment; sharp knives and slicers; cold from walk-in refrigerators and freezers and confining work areas. Duties require and exposure to high heat and humidity. Direct interaction with residents is extensive, leading to potential exposure to infectious disease or physical injury.
