Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Statement YMCA OF CENTRAL NEW YORK () ( Position Summary: Under the direction of the Health & Wellness Director, the Salsa Sabor y Salud Program Facilitator will be primarily responsible for providing quality leadership and facilitation in the program, while maintaining a supportive environment and communicating with participants in and out of group sessions. The facilitator must provide support and guidance to participants in the YMCA's Salsa Sabor y Salud Program and implement standard curriculum designed for the program. The Salsa Sabor y Salud Program Facilitator provides leadership and assures the well-being for all, in line with YMCA of the USA guidelines and Association policies. Salary and Benefits: Salary Range: $18.00-$20.00/hour, Part-time non-exempt YMCA Membership Responsibilities/Duties/Functions: The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Deliver curriculum to class participants in effective, meaningful and compelling ways. Encourage group participation and interaction through the use of open-ended questions. Facilitate commitment and retention of participants. Create a motivating environment that is friendly and non-competitive. Foster relationships with and between participants. Make learning a shared responsibility for the group. Schedule and conduct make up sessions with participants. Prepare before each class (i.e. review participants lesson plan, content for class, reminder call/email to participants). Provide accessibility to participants both before and after sessions to answer questions and follow-up on any questions you cannot answer during class time. Follow-up with participants outside of class if they are unable to attend (provide an in-person make-up session opportunity). Support and encourage goal setting on a weekly basis. Arrive for class on time and dressed appropriately. Experience, Education and Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience in a health education related field. Demonstrate leadership skills in an outgoing, friendly, assertive, professional and mature manner. Has a fun and energetic personality. Must be an exceptional listener and engage in active listening with participants. Must be able to express empathy to participants. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a group of adults in a learning environment. Must have high energy and be enthusiastic with demonstrated ability in member involvement and relationship building skills. Superior listening skills with a sincere desire to improve the health and wellness of YMCA Health and Wellness program staff and participants Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when handling and communicating sensitive information and data. Demonstrates excellent planning and organizational skills, ability to handle multiple projects and clients simultaneously Effective interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with Members, Directors, and Staff. Ability to analyze and solve problems. Trainings & Certifications: Must complete online Blood borne Pathogens, Youth Protection Series, Hazard Communications, Sexual Harassment and Employee Safety trainings prior to initial assignment to position. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to type, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position requires sitting for extended periods of time and repetitive data entry. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position. Work Environment: This job operates in a recreational and public environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and computers. At times, employees may be exposed to undesirable working conditions, communicable infectious diseases, and risk of injury from others. All employees are required to follow the preventative health policies of the YMCA at all times. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
