Increased responsibilities associated with system mark out, system layout, strand mapping, installation, replacement and rebuild of aerial and UG plant, activation, and survey of all outside plant infrastructure.ResponsibilitiesAssists in pre-wiring and installation activitiesDigs trenches and removes soil prior to cable installation in a buried systemPulls lasher, strand, or cable between polesSplices coax and fiber cables to designed specificationsPlans daily activity, requisitions equipment and supplies, and stocks vehicleCompletes job documentation on paper or by using a computerResolves or escalates customer complaintsUses small hand tools, power tools, meters, and other test equipmentOperates a bucket truckMaintains and secures Company truck and equipmentWorks on regularly scheduled days as well as unscheduled days and beyond regular work hours as requiredPerforms other duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent work experienceOutside Plant technical experience is preferred.Knowledge of basic mathematics.Knowledge of basic electronicsElectrical or general construction experienceGood written and oral communications skillsKnowledge of basic design calculations.Skilled in using a Windows-based computerAbility to prioritize and organize effectivelyAbility to work independently and with othersInternal Field Service Technician applicants must fully complete their field service career progression program, and spend twelve to eighteen months as an Outside Plant Tech III, to be deemed eligible. Preferred ExperienceBi-lingual proficiency preferred in some locationsAppropriate valid driver's license and driving record within Company standards. Ability to obtain current DOT (Department of Transportation) medical card and valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) where applicable; must comply with all applicable DOT requirementsAn 'Activity Analysis' of the physical demands required to perform this job's essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation will be provided upon request and with an offer of employment.
