Position Summary: The Counselor will work in the Yeshiva University Counseling Center and will provide individual therapy, crisis intervention and group therapy to undergraduate and graduate students. The Counselor will also participate in outreach programs at the University, as well as in staff meetings and workshops. This is a one-year postdoctoral position and the incumbent will receive supervision toward licensure.Position Responsibilities:Provide direct clinical services including individual psychotherapy, group therapy, referrals and crisis interventionProvide consultation services to faculty and staff as neededAssist with outreach programs to students on campusMaintain an assigned caseload of patientsWill receive at least one hour a week individual and one hour a week group supervision toward licensureMaintain clinical records in compliance with State and Federal regulatory agency requirements and program policies and proceduresPerform other related duties as assignedExperience & Educational Background:Pre-doctoral internship completed prior to start date, and should have completed all coursework towards degree in counseling or clinical psychologyApplicants working on the completion of a doctoral dissertation will be consideredPrior experience working in college counseling centers, with interest and experience in an area of specialty, such as eating disorders, substance abuse, women's issues or trauma preferredInterest in positive psychology and interest in designing and implementing programs on campusSkills & Competencies:Candidate is required to have skills necessary to complete intakes, create treatment plans, and implement short term psychotherapy and group therapy with undergraduate students and graduate studentsCandidate should have the skills to complete a suicide assessment and to be involved in crisis interventionCandidate should have proficiency in the treatment model they use, and preferably have familiarity with more than one treatment modality, such as CBT, DBT and psychodynamic therapySalary Range:$24.75-$24.75 per hourAbout Us: Founded in 1886, Yeshiva University (YU) has a strong tradition of combining Jewish scholarship with academic excellence and achievement in the liberal arts, sciences, medicine, law, business, social work, Jewish studies, education, psychology, and more.
