The position is also responsible for analyzing payroll information and identifying solutions to resolve Workers' Compensation concerns before forwarding to the assigned Workers' Compensation Coordinator. Additional duties include the below: Reviews and confirms qualifying disability periods for accurate payment of wage replacement benefits. Finalizes workers' compensation work status entries and reviews payroll time entry codes for accuracy. Supports the Requests for Council Action (RCAs) process for the extension of injury leave pay for those covered under Local Government Code 143. Receives overpayment information from payroll and third-party administrator (TPA) to validate the data. Communicates benefit overpayments to injured employees and supports recoupment efforts. Resolves payroll discrepancies with the support of the Workers' Compensation Coordinator. Reviews legal offsets and reductions pertaining to Temporary Income Benefit payments issued by the TPA. Creates, formats, and analyzes financial reports for various controls and other inter- and intra-departmental processes. Supports the subrogation process by supplying indemnity payment ledgers for liens and demands. Supports with training efforts by updating Salary Continuation process documents. Attends and/or facilitates bi-weekly and monthly inter- and intra-departmental meetings. Other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field is required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Two years of experience in workers' compensation is required. SUBSTITUTIONS : Workers' Compensation related experience at the professional level may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS A Texas Workers Compensation Adjuster License is required. PREFERENCES Preferences shall be given to candidates that have a background working in Human Resources and Worker's Compensation knowledge. Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
