Description PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans and implements activities related to the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of production materials. Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions. Maintains correctly balanced inventory levels on all purchased material and supplies to prevent out of stock conditions and cash flow problems relating to inventory. Forecasts level of monthly shipments, finish and Past Due. Generates plan to achieve budgeted ship and finish goals. Runs meetings, etc. to accomplish this. Guarantees a continuous inventory supply, establish and maintains proper levels of inventory turns, and controls the level of backorders. Forecasts inventory levels to anticipate inventory levels and cash flow needs. Works closely with Marketing and Sales to properly forecast new product timelines and sales. Develop and provide leadership to the Planning personnel in effectively utilizing MRP, MPS and availability in the supply chain. Assist Purchasing personnel in enhancing their negotiating skills with the objective of continuous improvement in product cost, quality and delivery, and in developing long term supplier relationships and capabilities. Responsible for sourcing and supplying raw materials, outside services, as well as coordinating global procurement efforts. Assists in the development and implementation of the solutions to problems potentially affecting the flow of material and support of customers. Coordinates with accounting on matters involving inventory, costs and quantities. Play major role in the enhancement of improved communication and smooth interface between departments and individuals regarding plans, programs or problems. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES MRP (supply/demand process) JIT/Lean manufacturing knowledge and implementation skills APICS or CPIM certification a plus Personal Computer skills Organizational and planning skills Problem solving Detail oriented Good communication skills including interpersonal and leadership skills Qualifications Education Preferred High School or better Experience Required Four-year degree or over 5 years work experience in a manufacturing environment or any combination of experience, education and training which would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required to the satisfaction of the manager.
