Supportive housing - affordable housing paired with services designed to help people maintain their homes for the long-term - is widely recognized as a proven and cost-effective solution to chronic homelessness. But we didn't stop at providing housing. Breaking Ground's programs and services help people experiencing street homelessness - especially those who have been on the streets the longest - to come indoors. Through our Street to Home outreach program and transitional housing resources, we help people get, and stay, on the path to a permanent home. The Times Square The Times Square offers 652 units of permanent supportive housing to low-income New Yorkers, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, and chronically homeless individuals, including some with mental illness. The Center for Urban Community Services provides comprehensive onsite social services, and Breaking Ground coordinates property management services. The Times Square is Breaking Ground's flagship, supportive housing residence. When Breaking Ground acquired the building in 1991, The Times Square, a former grand hotel was transformed into the largest permanent supportive housing residence in the nation. Front Desk Assistant, Times Square Reporting to the Assistant Building Director, the Front Desk Assistant serves as the receptionist, directing clients, guests, and walk-ins to appropriate resources. The Front Desk Assistant maintains files, replenishes office supplies, assists with scheduling, and mail distribution. This position will be onsite, five days a week. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Answer and direct incoming calls Greet guests, clients, tenants, and walk-ins and direct them to appropriate resources Manage mail processing machine and postage meter and distribute incoming mail Perform administrative duties ordering office supplies and submitting and tracking invoices Perform other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 1 year of experience in administrative support or related position Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing in a fast-paced environment Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and quality work product Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams As part of our continued efforts to maintain a safe workplace for employees and clients, and in compliance with the City of New York COVID-19 Safety Requirement Mandate, Breaking Ground strongly recommends all employees, interns, volunteers, and subcontractors to receive an FDA authorized and/or approved COVID-19 vaccination and provide a one-time verification of immunization as a condition of employment.
