Position: In response to the devastation caused by the historic rainfall and flooding in 2023, a 2-year, Statewide Flood Recovery Program, led by Capstone Community Action and in collaboration with disaster recovery partners, was launched to provide emergency case management services to help rebuild Vermonts communities. With over a year left for this program to provide critical support to the disaster recovery efforts, Capstone is seeking Case Managers to join the team offering comprehensive services to survivors. Case Managers assess and address the unmet needs of eligible survivors through individualized disaster recovery plans, monitor survivors progress toward goals, advocate on behalf of survivors to ensure access to available resources, and document delivery of services. Currently, there is a specific need for a case manager with strong interest and skills in data entry and organizational/systems orientation. Qualifications: Required qualifications for the Disaster Recovery Case Management position include a combination of experience in providing direct services to vulnerable populations and education related to human services or social work, with preferred qualifications including a bachelors degree in human services or social work. Additional requirements include: Understanding of issues related to poverty and barriers faced by people with low incomes and demonstrated respect and positive regard for people accessing services. Strong communication, de-escalation, and crisis intervention skills. Familiarity with and willingness to work cooperatively with community resources and partners, including volunteers, long- term recovery partners, and other service providers. Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain documentation of services. Ability to maintain professional boundaries. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Regional travel to client homes and other locations is required; candidates must have a valid drivers license, with an acceptable driving record and access to a reliable, insured vehicle. Compensation & Benefits: The Disaster Recovery Case Manager position is a limited-duration, full-time (40 hours/week) position with a Monday-Friday schedule. Capstone offers competitive pay at $21.13 to $24.73/hour and generous paid time off, insurance, and retirement plan benefits. Mileage reimbursement is provided for use of personal vehicle for work-related (non-commuting) travel.
