Title of Position: Manager, Volunteer Services FLSA Status: Exempt Department: Volunteer Services Reports to: Director, Volunteer Services Positions reporting to this position: Coordinator, Volunteer Services Salary: $75k-80k About Win Win is dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness by providing transitional and supportive shelters for women-led families. Many of our families have escaped domestic violence and strive to keep their families together and safe. Win's Income Building Program supports our clients by facilitating their transition from unemployment to employment and helping those already employed to improve their circumstances. This includes increasing wages, moving from part-time to full-time work, securing health benefits, and transitioning from off-the-books to on-the-books positions. Additionally, Win offers financial literacy workshops to equip our clients with essential skills such as budgeting, bill paying, and basic fiscal management. Win's current operating budget is approximately $150 million, with $14 million raised privately through private and corporate funding, supporting programs and services including the Income Building Program and Camp Win. Purpose of the Opportunity Step into a leadership role that shapes the future of community engagement as the Manager of Volunteer Services. In this dynamic position, you'll have the opportunity to mentor and lead a talented team of four Coordinators while collaborating closely with the Director to design and implement innovative volunteer and in-kind donation programs. You'll be at the forefront of driving operational excellence, forging meaningful connections with key stakeholders, and acting as a strategic partner to the Director. Your leadership will be pivotal in overseeing a variety of exciting initiatives, from volunteer events and in-kind donation drives to special projects and the vibrant Win Associates group for young professionals. Join us and become a catalyst for positive change in our community Key Accountabilities Staff Supervision Supervise four Volunteer Services Coordinators who are responsible for implementing volunteer programs and in-kind donation initiatives at Win Support Coordinators in their empathic management of Volunteer Services Interns Support development of Coordinators, helping them identify and achieve professional goals Maintain and update task management system; ensure each team member upholds their responsibilities so that the team collectively meets 'bottom line' deliverables Advocate for departmental staffing needs; manage hiring processes for direct reports; review applications; screen applicants; and make hiring determinations alongside the Director Work with the Director to identify and address team member performance issues as needed, approaching problems with empathy and recognition of departmental priorities Coordinate periodic informal team 'hangs,' recognize work milestones & achievements, birthdays, and promote a positive, collaborative atmosphere within the department Volunteer Management Oversee all aspects of volunteerism at Win including but not limited to recruitment, screening, onboarding, placement, and recognition Foster close relationships with staff at all Win facilities; continually identify and address volunteer needs throughout the growing organization Build and leverage relationships with volunteer groups (corporate & nonprofit) to provide volunteer events for Win shelters and supportive housing programs (virtual and in-person) Serve as liaison between clients, onsite staff, and volunteer groups to provide impactful and fulfilling volunteer experiences for everyone Develop departmental standards and best practices for volunteer coordination and management alongside the Director with an emphasis on TIC & DEI Assist the Director in hosting Annual Volunteer & In-Kind Donor Reception event and manage volunteer recognition efforts including quarterly departmental newsletter Reestablish & manage the Win Associates Committee, a group of young professionals from throughout NYC who organize recurring volunteer programs and in-kind drives for Win families In-Kind Donation Administration Cultivate and nurture relationships with external partners (including Board Members, Win Partners, and Win Associates) with the goal of increasing in-kind donor education & support Foster close relationships with all Win Programs staff; continually evaluate the impact of in-kind donations; and improve internal protocols to better meet Win's needs and adhere to TIC Develop departmental standards and best practices for in-kind donation coordination and management alongside the Director with an emphasis on TIC & DEI Oversee all Donation Room operations, which includes staff scheduling, assigning tasks to team members, seasonal reorganization, and donation distribution logistics Manage one-off, recurring, and annual in-kind donation initiatives including the Holiday Gift Program, Backpack Buddies (back-to-school campaign), College Kit Project, and other programs Liaise with Operations & Programs team leadership to execute large-scale donation distributions such as Thanksgiving food donations and holiday gifts for Win families Manage high volume of in-kind donor correspondence quickly and professionally Maintain up-to-date records on volunteers and in-kind donations (e.g., status, thank yous) using software and platforms including Salesforce, Smartsheet, SurveyMonkey, and SignUpGenius Essential Functions: Must be able to sit at a computer for the long periods of the workday Must be able to travel to Win sites and other related meetings throughout New York City Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds Must be able to ascend/descend stairs in a Win site Qualifications: Commitment to Win's mission, vision, and values Outstanding math, administrative, organizational, and writing skills; attention to detail Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of an organization Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to adjust communication as socially and culturally appropriate Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and Salesforce Minimum of three years of supervisory experience Bachelor's/Associate's degree preferred Spanish language proficiency preferred Must be able to work some evenings and weekends as required Previous volunteer work experience preferred Core Competencies: Leading Others: Lead by example, doesn't stay behind the desk, stays visible to staff and clients.
