JOB REQUIREMENTS: Training Instructor - 990 DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Position Summary The Senior Training Instructor is a critical member of the Fairbanks Morse Services Team leading in the development and delivery of our Training Courses for both customers and Field Service Technicians. This individual will be responsible for the continual improvement and maintenance of Diesel Engine courses, primarily covering the Fairbanks Morse Opposed piston, ALCO, and PC2 product lines. The Senior Training Instructor is a highly dynamic position, requiring effective leadership skills, cross-functional communication skills, proficient technical and analytical expertise to sustain our Training and Certification Objectives. They are also responsible for supporting certification processes, maintaining lab equipment, and processes for customer billing. They deliver content and conduct hands-on labs meeting technical standards; as well as identifying technical issues and proactively recommending improvements. Principle Duties and Responsibilities Deliver classroom lectures on diesel engine operation and maintenance procedures. Conduct maintenance labs in a safe and effective manner conducive to learning. Provide company-wide education on FMD product lines and theoretical concepts used in engine design, manufacture, and maintenance. Facilitation of cross functional teams in conduct of product line certifications including exams, LMS, and certification boards. Catalyst for organizational change. Ability to communicate and influence teams in support of organization initiatives. Site management of the Beloit Training Center including class supplies, building improvements, and creation of training aids Travel is expected as needed to support remote training events and course development for new products. Create curriculum for new products or improvements to existing FMD products. Communicate with the Training Manager key information pertaining to course feedback, improvements, and FMS certification programs. Lead training communications with internal and external customers; serve as the focal point for scheduling and billing of training courses. Ensure lab processes are performed correctly using appropriate tools, materials, and processes. Ensure on-time and accurate submission of quotes, work orders and invoices supporting conduct of courses. Track multiple courses simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule and readiness for training courses. OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications, Skills and Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering or combustion engin related technical field. Minimum of 5 years of experience as an instructor or supervisor. Certification as an instructor in an Engineering related field is a plus. 3 years experience with Opposed piston or ALCO diesel engine operation and maintenance. Previous experience providing training on these engines a plus. Proven capability supervising small groups/teams focused on safe execution of complex evolutions. Demonstrate high degree of problem solving and critical thinking; calmly evaluate and identify risks and drive industrial maintenance evolutions to mitigate risks. Outstanding communication skills (written and oral) with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate/interact with customers and within the organization. Action-oriented with ability to establish working relationships with people at all levels, internally and externally. Curriculum development skills. Producing presentations and hands-on labs to educate the FMD workforce and external customers on various product lines. Independently manage a training site including building management, supplies, budget and resource coordination. Travel requirement 25% (may be domestic or international to provide/receive training or support curriculum development).
