Closes:September 22, 2024 Starting Range:$20.63-$26.20 per hour Full Range:$20.63 to $28.99 per hour Job Description In this role, you'll be the first point of contact, welcoming and preparing patients for visits with ourAdvanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARPN) and Physician's Assistant at theAvista First Care Clinic.You'll record health histories, take vital signs, and perform minor procedures, placing you at the heart of patient care. You'll work closely with our fantastic Registered Nurses (RNs), schedule appointments, and ensure smooth operations for occupational health concerns. Your top-notch administrative skills will keep our occupational health department and medical clinic running smoothly, all within a supportive environment that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Assists with preparing patients for the ARNP/Physician's Assistant by obtaining and recording health history including medication reconciliation. Takes vital signs and performs minor procedures such as suture removal , wound care, ear lavage etc. Collects specimens for Department of Transportation (DOT) Drug Testing and obtains laboratory specimens based on provider's orders including but not limited to blood draws, wound cultures, and urinalysis. Administers vaccinations and coordinates flu clinics. Performs minor first aid tasks independently. Handles the administrative functions of the occupational health department and medical clinic and in compliance with confidentiality requirements. Keeps medical records in order and ensures all patient paperwork is filled out and all patient demographics are in the chart. Gets all prior medical records needed for the appointment from other medical offices including medical records release and making referrals. Sends in prescriptions to patient's pharmacy electronically, ensuring patient's lab specimens have all been collected, schedules follow-up appointments, calls /faxes referrals, and ensures charts are signed off. Triages incoming phone-calls to the clinic, serves as the initial contact for employees utilizing the clinic, and coordinates the daily schedule of the clinic. Navigates an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to communicate within the office. Files and processes incoming invoices, correspondence, and other mail. Keeps the clinic's inventory stocked and ensures the exam rooms are stocked with needed supplies. Oversees Avista's db (decibel) blocker program (fits new employees for db blockers and keeps track of refits, travels to outlying offices for fittings, ensures departments pay db blocker invoices for their employees) and other hearing conservation requirements. Performs audiograms per Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) guidelines. Knowledgeable of and helps to communicate Avista's policies related to the clinic, worker's compensation, short-term disability, hearing conservation, and other policies to employees. Requirements Certified Medical Assistant License and current First Aid and CPR required. 2+ years of administrative and clinical experience in a medical office environment. Experience with taking vital signs, obtaining medical histories, and performing detailed medication reconciliations. Phlebotomy experience and specimen processing required. Certified professional collector (drug screen) and breath alcohol certification preferred or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire. CAOHC certification (audiograms) required, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
