Ashtabula County Nursing Rehabilitation Center is seeking a part time Maintenance Worker II. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision of the Director of Maintenance/Environmental Services, the Maintenance Worker performs primarily semi-skilled and unĀskilled building and grounds maintenance tasks and provides general maintenance services for the Nursing Home; patrols facility grounds; ensures the security of the residents and employees; responds to emergencies during shift. QUALIFICATIONS:An example of acceptable qualifications: Completion of secondary education or equivalent (high school diploma or GED); two (2) or more years of experience in building maintenance and repair, including training in skilled building trades (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning, etc.); or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An individual who poses a direct threat to the health and safety of himself/herself or others in the workplace will be deemed not qualified for this position. LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license; must maintain insurability according to the County's vehicle insurance policy. Completes defensive driving course with periodic renewal. EQUIPMENT OPERATED:The following are examples only and are not intended to be all inclusive: Computer, computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Outlook, and other applicable computer software), hand tools, power tools, welder, electrical meter, shovel, paint brush, tractor, mower, and other grounds keeping equipment, mobile phone,. INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS OR PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.); ascends and/or descends ladders, stairs, or scaffolds; is exposed to environmental conditions which may result in injury from fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and/or poorly ventilated work areas; is exposed to possible injury as a result of electrical shock; is exposed to possible injury as a result of working with moving mechanical parts of equipment or machines; is exposed to possible injury as a result of falling from high places; has exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions; has exposure to extreme non-weather related heat or cold; has exposure to hazardous driving conditions; works second/third shift; this is considered medium work and the employee must demonstrate the ability to perform the physical demands required of the position in accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor's physical demands strength ratings. In cases of emergency, unpredictable situations, and/or department needs, may be required to lift, push, pull, and/or carry objects heavier than D.O.L. strength ratings recommend. JOB DESCRIPTION AND WORKER CHARACTERISTICS: JOB DUTIES in order of importance ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:For purposes of 42 USC 12101: 40% (1) Performs semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance for the Nursing Home (e.g., checks and lubricates casters on chairs, beds, and carts; lubricates motors and pumps; checks belts and hoses on equipment; performs preventative maintenance on small appliances; performs routine carpentry and masonry work; paints buildings, walls, and equipment; cleans filters, refrigeration units, etc.; cleans and plunges drains as prescribed; changes A/C and heating system filters; replaces light bulbs; sweeps and mops work area; empties trash; repairs floor and ceiling tiles etc.). 40% (2) Patrols Nursing Home areas to ensure employee and resident safety; checks windows and doors to ensure Nursing Home security; observes individuals on
