Description Carries out various procedures to assist the pharmacist with the various medications requested. Assists pharmacists as directed with filling medication orders, preparing labels and delivery of medication or supplies to all patient care areas. Assures delivered medications are given to nursing personnel or securely stored in proper medication storage areas. Replaces floor stock medication. Reviews, maintains, rotates stock and restocks drug storage locations in the main pharmacy. Alerts Inventory Control Clerk, Pharmacist and Director of Pharmacy of drug supplies that need to be reordered. Packages pharmaceuticals and IV medications including preparation and affixing all necessary labels to the packaged product for inspection and verification by a pharmacist. Follows established departmental policies and procedures objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Fills unit dose medication carts and area-specific exchange carts. Performs minor housekeeping duties when necessary (e.g. dusting counters, vacuuming, cleaning sinks). Maintains pharmacy records (e.g. drug requisitions, crediting, charges, reports, files) as required. Makes suggestions to assist the Pharmacy management in developing innovative programs to improve the efficiency of the drug distribution system. Willing to consider applicant pursuing the CPHT certification but must have within 90 days from date of hire. Qualifications Education Required Diploma or better in Diploma/GED Licenses & Certifications Required Pharmacy Tech CPHT Pharm Tech NJ Reg Experience Preferred Graduate from pharmacy technician training course preferred. 1 year: Hospital experience in pharmacy.
