Patient Navigator Non Clinical, Dept of SurgeryReq #:0000161787 Category:Clerical / Administrative Support Status:Full-Time Shift:Day Facility:Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Department:Dept. of Surgery #755 Location: Newark Beth Israel Medical Ctr, 201 LYONS AVENUE, NEWARK, NJ 07112-2027 Job Overview: The Patient Navigator non clinical will support the clinical team in the Outpatient Surgical setting within the assigned specialty. Will coordinate patient care under the direction of the clinical team including but not limited to coordinating patient appointments, obtaining same day authorizations for patient testing and procedures, obtaining referrals and necessary documents for all appointments, navigating and escorting patients to necessary test/procedure. Qualifications: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent 1-3 years of related experience within the healthcare field, required Ability and interest to learn clinical information and criteria. Knowledge of medical terminology Emphasis on computer literacy and communication skills, such as Microsoft Excel and Word Problem solver with entrepreneurial spirit Successful completion of all orientation programs Preferred: Associate degree within the Healthcare field, Bachelor's preferred Scheduling Requirements: Shift- 8:30am 4:30pm Monday-Friday Full Time Essential Functions: Reviews schedules and prepare patient charts; request necessary clinical information as needed, prepare charts for visits/re-evaluations by ensuring all tests ordered and results ready for review Obtain referrals for appointments, pre-certifications, and same day authorizations for all diagnostics testing and procedures as needed Performs all duties related to the pre-registration, registration, and financial clearance processes for all patients (emergency, ambulatory and in-patients) Responsible for collecting proper data to insure hospital bills will be paid by a third party payer or the patient Assist clinical staff with specific patient care needs (follow up calls, coordination of testing, scheduling tests/procedures, assist uninsured patients with insurance enrollment Assist with the identification and resolution of all registration and insurance issues as assigned Benefits and Perks: At RWJBarnabas Health, our market-competitive Total Rewards package provides comprehensive benefits and resources to support our employees physical, emotional, social, and financial health.
