Assistant Director, Environment ServicesReq #:0000166598 Category:Leadership Status:Full-Time Shift:Day Facility:Monmouth Medical Center Department:Environmental Services Location: Monmouth Medical Center, 300 Second Avenue, Long Branch, NJ 07740 Job Overview: The Assistant Director manages the Environmental and Patient Transport Departments. Establishes policies and procedures, objectives and work standards. Maintains quality control and compliance with regulatory agencies. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc. Insure the department is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations. Qualifications: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent experience Knowledge of hospital operations and specific kinds of housekeeping Thorough knowledge of housekeeping equipment, supplies, chemical agents Management and supervisory skills Sufficient administrative experience in a hospital or similar setting Preferred: BA/BS Degree Courses in Management or Hospital Housekeeping Essential Functions: Develops and maintains job descriptions for departmental staff Interviews, selects, promotes and terminates staff per established policies Ensures that the disciplinary process is administered per policy Resolves staff grievances Investigates and evaluates new housekeeping supplies and equipment and makes recommendations to administration Provides coverage to the Director as needed Makes recommendations concerning painting, repairs, furnishings, furniture, relocation of equipment, and allocation of space to improve sanitation, appearance and efficiency Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and supervises functions and activities of the Environmental Services Department Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of the hospital Maintains positive relationships with all customers, employees, physicians, patients, visitors, and guests Utilizes a variety of feedback to improve processes and services to meet and exceed customer needs Uses sound employee relations practices and maintains high levels of visibility and accessibility Follows though on all customer requests and inquiries in a timely fashion Utilizes the principles of CQI in all work situations Seeks feedback and recommendations from others to improve the quality, processes and services Contributes to improving quality services and productivity (takes the initiative to continually evaluate one s work, report problems, suggest solutions and try new ideas) Effectively allocates and schedules resources Able to project and appropriately staff the unit/department to effectively function to demand Utilizes resources, both labor and non-labor, to maximize efficiency and quality Adheres to budgetary guidelines and targets-proactively manages budget variances and causes Determines priorities and organizes work and time to meet them Follows sound employee retention techniques; effective selection and interviewing, recognition, fair and timely discipline, and ongoing performance feedback Interacts constructively, tactfully and diplomatically with others and resolves conflicts effectively Demonstrates cultural competency and ability to maintain a diverse workforce Completes tasks and assignments in a timely, accurate and efficient manner Remains positive and focused despite obstacles and setbacks Demonstrates a sense of urgency in completing assignments Organizes multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneously to accomplish goals Other Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
