We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer at the Automation & Geosciences Sector of ARA. This position includes full lifecycle mechanical and systems engineering of unmanned systems, sensor systems, and geotechnical projects and products. This job requires a candidate to lead system design activities such as developing and managing system, hardware and software requirements, developing system architectures and designs, performing system level integration/test and assisting in validation for complex avionics control systems. The job requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to be a team player. You will join a dynamic team working on our Robotic, Sensor, and Geotechnical product lines. You will be part of a team that designs, prototypes, integrates and troubleshoots next generation technology, bringing state of the art solutions to our warfighters and our commercial customers. The qualified candidate will be working with a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced development environment to integrate, deploy, and support complex software and hardware-based systems. What you'll do as a Senior Systems Engineer 1 Tasks may include identifying, documenting, and tracking requirements; performing requirements analysis; task planning; performing system integration, regression, verification, and validation testing. You will help navigate the design team through the design cycle and own overall technical risk for the product(s). The position may require business travel to project locations in support of demonstrations, system integration, system testing, and training events. Senior Systems Engineer 1 Requirements Bachelor's degree in systems engineering or related engineering discipline 7-9 years related experience in engineering US Citizenship and ability to be granted a security clearance by the Federal Government Experience with creating and managing technical requirements Experience managing technical risk and implementing mitigation strategies Experience generating customer facing documentation Ability to analyze and identify customer needs Ability to use statistical analysis methods and tools Ability to work with customers in a test environment Ability to develop improved methods to processes to increase program efficiency Team player with a proactive attitude Strong oral and written communications skills Senior Systems Engineer 1 Preferences Prior Systems Engineering work experience Prior experience taking a product through the full design cycle Knowledge of requirement management tools Knowledge of configuration management tools Experience setting-up and running test tools Experience preparing proposals or estimating engineering labor Experience creating standard work Company & Division Information Applied Research Associates, Inc. is an employee-owned international research and engineering company recognized for providing technically superior solutions to complex and challenging problems in the physical sciences.
