The Groundskeeper is responsible for the routine maintenance and project work related to the roads and grounds of Ellis Medicine. Responsible for the cleaning and repairing of paving surfaces and parking facilities, landscaping activities, maintenance of hospital vehicle and grounds equipment and general maintenance responsibilities. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S): Required: High School Diploma. 2 years related experience required in landscaping, grounds keeping maintenance, and operating heavy equipment required. OR 15+ years related experience required in landscaping, grounds keeping maintenance, and operating heavy equipment required. On-call rotation required and must be able to report to work when called in or when emergency situations arise. Valid driver's license to operate Hospital vehicles required. Required to operate equipment such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, plows, forklifts, snow blowers, lawn mowers, hospital cars or trucks, etc. GUIDING BEHAVIORS: Communication: Listen to understand, before seeking to be understood. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION: Responsible for the routine maintenance and project work related to the roads and grounds of Ellis Medicine. Responsible for the cleaning and repairing of paving surfaces and parking facilities, landscaping activities, maintenance of hospital vehicle and grounds equipment and general maintenance responsibilities. Operates motor vehicles and equipment for ground duties and general services, performs minor repair work or arranges for services, maintains fuel, oil and fluid levels for vehicles and equipment, performs inspections and preventative maintenance, and ensures vehicles and equipment operate safely and kept clean. Reports urgent repairs and safety issues to the manager for the assignment to the appropriate department or individual. Inspects and performs routine cleaning and minor repairs on Hospital property and land, roads, sidewalks, entrance ways, traffic areas and parking facilities. Removes litter and dirt from the entranceways, doorways, and traffic areas. Keeps a well maintained, attractive appearance and safe environment for the public, Hospital guests and staff. Inspects and cleans per schedule building roofs, drains, ditches, and fire escapes. Performs lawn care duties such as repairing and reseeding lawn area, fertilizing, watering and insect control, insect control, and mowing, trimming, and edging. Performs landscaping activities such as spading and preparing soils of flower beds, shrubs and trees, planting, insect control, fertilizing, mulching, and watering, weeding, and edging, pruning shrubs and trees, and raking and removing leaves. Performs snow and ice removal tasks, including equipment maintenance and repairs. Loads and unloads salt, calcium, stop skid, fertilizers, and all ground related supplies. Performs clean up responsibilities on the job site as instructed and required by policy. Responsible for the custody of grounds tools, equipment supplies, and storage areas while performing duties. Keeps storage areas organized and clean. Obtains parts and tools from the department stockroom per procedure and policy. Responsible for safe work techniques, proper engineering controls, maintain and clean and safe work area, and wearing the proper personal protective equipment per department and Hospital procedures and policies. Attends in-services, required training and safety training as required. Assists in reviewing and developing department policies and procedures when needed. Trains new staff members. Complies with Hospital and department policies, work rules and requirements. Adheres to patient privacy policies and procedures, maintain confidentiality. Salary Range: $15.08-$21.87 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
