Summary This fulltime position is primarily daytime hours M - F, with occasional evening and weekend attendance for special events. Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: Provides teaching in psychology and behavioral health to Family Medicine Residents. Provides mental health and wellness support for family medicine residents and faculty. Provides psychological evaluation and treatment services to inpatients and outpatients. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties: Develop, implement, evaluate and supervise residency behavioral science and psychiatry curricula, treatment protocols, and other didactic materials for the Penn Medicine/Lancaster General Family Medicine Residency to maintain compliance with ACGME and ABFM requirements Supervise resident learning via live observation, video review and case discussion Conduct formal performance evaluations of resident, counsel residents, and coordinate research audits of assigned team of residents. Attend the weekly Faculty and Committee meetings. Develops and provides in-service education or community outreach presentations. Maintain a limited clinical practice one of the Academic Family Medicine Practice Centers (LGHP Downtown Family Medicine, LGHP Walter Aument Family Medicine Center or LGHP Family & Maternity Medicine) Performs psychological evaluations as assigned, encompassing evaluation of the patient's presenting complaints and condition, past medical and psychiatric histories, social history, coping skills, psychological adjustment and resiliency, and current mental status. Conceptualizes cases leading to appropriate diagnoses. Assesses potential barriers to treatment. Formulates treatment goals and plans. Implements empirically based treatment/intervention/adaptation strategies. Provides psychological therapies to outpatients as assigned. Provides patient progress reports to referral source and other care providers as indicated. Makes recommendations to referral sources and other health care providers pertinent to the diagnosis (es). Coordinates treatment plans with the patient, family, significant others, and treatment team through active participation in meetings and departmental conferences. Monitors and re-evaluates the patient's response to intervention and modifies treatment plan as necessary and with patient agreement. Maintains documentation in the patient's record of evaluations and assessments, treatment plans and processes. Completes required forms and documents all patient contacts in the medical record in order to provide a continually up-to-date assessment of patient status. Complies with established organizational and professional standards, policies, procedures and ethical principles; including those pertaining to billing, reimbursement, scheduling and safety, emergency procedures. JOB REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: PhD or PsyD in Psychology. Current licensure in Psychology by the Commonwealth of PA. Successful completion of APA accredited doctoral internship. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 5 years of hospital or outpatient clinical experience. Experience in undergraduate or graduate medical education. Successful completion of an APA accredited doctoral internship.
