Your Role: Maintain reel/roll wrapping area and production record. Assist with paper machine start-up/shutdown, and both downtime and continuous housekeeping effort. Provide safe, efficient wastepaper handling and pulper loading to minimize pulper downtime and maximize quality and production rate. Provide safe, efficient parent roll handling for both paper machines simultaneously to minimize paper machine downtime, roll shipment inconsistencies, and maximize product protection/quality. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Accurately maintain production records at the reel and assure proper roll wrapping and labeling. Safe, efficient handling of parent rolls and wastepaper bales (into/out of inventory) Maintain high level of cleanliness at reel and roll wrapping area to minimize finished roll or packaging contamination Audit finished roll quality and packaging integrity. Accurate, efficient packaging and labeling of parent rolls Maintain a neat, clean roll wrapping and parent roll storage area Alert operating crew and team leaders of roll or packaging inconsistencies Ensure communication with appropriate personnel concerning equipment operational deficiencies or safety issues Ensure minimum product waste Perform routine and prescribed preventative maintenance on machines. Report/refer defects or repairs as appropriate Operate clamp/fork trucks in a safe manner and perform daily inspection and light maintenance Comply with OSHA and company safety rules and regulations Adhere to company policy and procedures Identify and relay safety, quality, waste reduction, and downtime reduction improvement opportunities to plant supervision/management Capable of learning and developing ability to perform duties (minimum required by these positions) of the Technician II Perform other duties as assigned including but not limited to assisting areas outside of the papermaking operation Safe, efficient handling of wastepaper bales (into/out of inventory, load pulper conveyors, and de-wiring), while simultaneously operating pulpers in automatic mode Identify wastepaper types, prohibitive materials and out throws Monitor bales quality and condition, relay quality issues in appropriate, timely manner Ensure minimum product waste and maintenance of neat, clean pulping and wastepaper storage area Operate pulpers, manually, in safe and efficient manner. Monitor and adjust fiber supply and pulper loading, pulping, and pump out practices to maintain defined stock quality/consistency to the de-inking operation JOB QUALIFICATIONS Required Competencies Ability to climb, stoop, bend on a continuous basis. Ability to lift a minimum of 60lbs Visual acuity and verbal and written communication skills Self-motivated, mechanical, and analytical aptitude Technical problem-solving experience/capability Ability to operate mobile warehouse equipment (clamp/fort trucks) safely and efficiently Required Education and Experience High school or equivalent degree Minimum 1 year manufacturing experience, swing shift of shift experience preferred We are an equal-opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
