Summary: The Scheduling Coordinator, Operating Room position is responsible for the scheduling and coordination of surgical procedures, including routine, add-on, and emergency cases. The position is required to schedule cases, staff, and resources while also serving as a point of contact for patients, surgeons, and staff during and after procedures. The position is also responsible for answering and triaging telephone calls, collecting and communicating patient information to the appropriate individuals, and completing administrative tasks to ensure efficient workflows and patient care within the surgical area/operating room. Responsibilities: Coordinates the surgical schedule, including but not limited to arrangement for patient transportation, communication of scheduling with the individuals in charge of the case, and the scheduling of other resources/equipment as necessary.Works in conjunction with the Charge Nurse to effectively coordinate nursing staff, anesthesia, surgical residents, and RN First Assist assignments.Facilitates surgical case moves/updates including patient locations, communication to physician, etc.Reviews patient's charts for completeness checking for histories and physicals (H&Ps) and medical clearances within guidelines or device forms as requested by the surgeon and/or Anesthesia and follows up as needed with medical personnel to ensure completenessAnswers and triages phone calls for the operating rooms/surgical areas. Makes phone calls as directed to facilitate surgical cases.Orders and maintains inventory of related supplies for the peri-operative units.Manages documentation obtained via fax or other means and scans documents into the electronic medical record (EMR) so that it's available for the patient's care team. Credentials: Education or Equivalent Experience: H.S.
