Click here.The Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Educator provides education to CDI team members in the areas of coding, clinical documentation improvement, and regulatory and billing compliance. Strives to meet the comprehensive needs of the Clinical Documentation Improvement staff and providers in a safe and caring professional manner. Collaborates with Coding, Quality, Care Management, and other departments to design, develop, schedule, and present educational materials based on identified documentation needs throughout Community Health System (CHS). Collaborates with CDI leadership for maintaining and improving documentation and clinical skills through professional development and serves as a role model for other clinicians. Performs responsibilities within the guidelines of the hospital policies, state regulatory and accrediting requirements.EducationOne of the following is requiredAssociate's Degree or higher in NursingDoctor of Medicine (MD) from an accredited medical schoolDoctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical schoolMedical Degree from a foreign medical school with successful completion of the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 ExamsMaster's Degree in Nursing preferredExperience5 years of clinical experience in an acute hospital setting with demonstrated expertise in Med/Surg, OB. Trauma, ICU, and/or CCU required3 years of Clinical Documentation Improvement experience requiredStrong understanding of the requirements for clinical coding and billing according to the rules of Medicare, Medicaid and commercial payers requiredLicenses and CertificationsRN - Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work within the state of California (if education is in Nursing) requiredECFMG - Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (if education is from a foreign medical school) requiredOne of the following is requiredCCDS - Certified Clinical Documentation SpecialistCDIP - Certified Documentation Improvement PractitionerCCS - Certified Coding Specialist preferred• Pay ranges listed are an estimate and subject to change.• If any bonuses are noted, they are only applicable to external hires meeting criteria.
