Job SummaryResponsible for oversight of the Maintenance Support Pilot organization. Ensures that maintenance support pilots are properly trained and utilized effectively to conduct maintenance flights and aircraft movement. Provides standards and guidance to ensure high quality and optimal functionality of Air Methods aircraft, following maintenance work. Collaborates with maintenance planning and regional maintenance leadership to align task prioritization and asset allocation. Manages the development of pilot pathway program. Mentors program pilots and aides in the development of professional skills and knowledge to ensure successful program growth. This manager may be homebased, excluding AK and HI.Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:Maintain currency and 135.339 check pilot designation in at least one Air Methods aircraftDevelop, implement, and update training curriculum for maintenance support and pathway pilotsConduct aircraft training and evaluations, specific to the maintenance support functionDevelop robust policies, procedures, checklists and forms to ensure post-maintenance flight checks meet established quality standards, and aircraft are returned to service ready to perform the air medical mission.Collaborate with maintenance planning for strategic scheduling of resources, forecasting support pilot needs, and ensuring pilot availabilityCollaborate with regional maintenance leadership to make tactical decisions related to short notice needs as availability allowsSupervise Maintenance Support PilotsConduct Maintenance Support Pilot candidate screening, interviews and hiring activitiesManage performance and delivers discipline, conducts reviews and provides merit recommendationsPromote a just culture consistently and actively participate in the Air Methods Safety Management SystemOther duties as assignedSupervisory ResponsibilitiesDirectly supervises employees in the Maintenance Support Pilot organization. Carries out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
