Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative RF Research Scientist in Counter Directed Energy to join our defense technology team. The successful candidate will focus on the development of materials, technologies, and strategies to counteract the effects of directed energy weapons (DEWs), such as high-energy lasers, microwaves, and particle beams. This role involves working closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop cutting-edge solutions that enhance the resilience and protection of military and civilian systems against DEWs. Responsibilities Conduct research on the mechanisms of interaction between directed energy weapons and various materials and systems. Develop and test new materials and coatings that can mitigate or withstand the effects of directed energy attacks. Design and implement experimental setups to evaluate the effectiveness of counter directed energy solutions. Collaborate with engineers and scientist from different disciplines to integrate counter directed energy technologies into existing and new systems. Utilize computational modeling and simulations to predict the performance of counter directed energy materials and technologies. Analyze experimental and simulation data to guide the development and optimization of countermeasures. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and publication to communicate research findings. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry or a related field with a focus on directed energy research and countermeasures with 5 years of experience. Proven experience in research and development related to directed energy weapons and countermeasures. Strong knowledge of the physical principles underlying directed energy interactions with materials. Proficiency in experimental techniques and material characterization methods relevant to directed energy research. Familiarity with computational modeling and simulation tools used in the study of directed energy effects. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly. Desired Qualifications: M.S. with 3 years or PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry or a related field with a focus on directed energy research and countermeasures. Experience in the defense industry or a related field. Knowledge of advanced materials and coatings designed to counter directed energy attacks. Experience with grant writing and securing funding for research projects. Global Comp $110,000 - $180,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
