Staff Assistant Part Time Temp SUNY Broome's Financial Aid Office is currently seeking candidates for a part-time, temporary position for Staff Assistant who will report to the Assistant Director of Financial Aid and the Assistant Vice President for Human Resources and Student Finance, providing key support to the Financial Aid Office. The successful candidate must have strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills, and possess attention to detail and the ability to coordinate multiple projects. Fluctuating workload and tight time constraints will place high demands for service in this position. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Verifies student/parent information on the FAFSA in accordance with state and federal regulations. Calculates and awards federal and state grants as well as processes student and parent federal loans based on individual student eligibility. Ensures that there is no discrepant data by developing familiarity with tax forms, verification worksheets, and other required documents and reconciling discrepancies by communicating with students, parents, and spouses to clarify data. Assists in reviewing and updating Federal, State, and Local Compliance rules and regulations. Represents Student Financial Services at Student Open Houses, Orientations, workshops, High School Nights, and seminars. Assist in the navigation of various Federal, State and Local Applications for Student Aid The successful candidate will possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse college faculty, staff, and students. Candidates comfortable in a learner-centered environment and committed to the community college mission are encouraged to apply. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. Additional training and education in the applicable administrative field is desirable. One (1) year of experience working in an educational institution or in a related administrative function desired. Human Services experience, financial experience, or additional experience with any of the functional responsibilities of the position preferred. Additional Information: The hourly rate for this position is $24.38 Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
