J.Polep Distribution Services, Chicopee Massachusetts, is actively looking for a Network/System Administrator who will be responsible for the network infrastructure and services, maintain a stable network and server environment with minimal downtime, monitor, maintain, administer, design, deploy, and ensure optimal availability of LAN and WAN, related hardware and software, and the applications and systems that utilize those networks. Reporting to the Information Technology Director, the Network/System Administrator is a critical member of the Information Technology team. The Network/System Administrator will be challenged to utilize their extensive knowledge of network administration, Virtual Servers, messaging systems, wireless, security, and backup and recovery systems. Assist with planning and coordination of projects and services that rely on network operations. Responsibilities will include but not limited to: Performs installation, primary support, maintenance, upgrade and troubleshooting on a variety of network hardware and software components in a production data center environment to include but not limited to: Microsoft Servers, SonicWall, VMware, and Cisco. Promotes system reliability and efficiency by creating and implementing system standards and operational best-practices; provide technical leadership in design, and administration decisions for networking systems. Performs daily server backups, backup verification, and maintains archiving and recovery procedures. Facilitates the planning of component and feature upgrades, and plans & participates in scheduled off-hours service outage upgrades. Performs and documents network and system operation processes. Skills & Experience IBM iSeries experience would be considered a plus as would any expertise related to mobile devices.
