Ballard is an amazing place to work and if what we've said resonates with you, you just might be right for us Job Summary: The Equipment Mechanic and Oiler will be responsible for lubricating machinery, perform preventive maintenance on all equipment and tools, ensure all potential safety issues are brought to the attention of supervising staff. Education: High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license Experience: 2+ years' experience in the Heavy Equipment Maintenance industry or an educational degree in Diesel-related technical courses is preferred. Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of heavy equipment and non-mobile/or light duty vehicles preventative maintenance. Thorough understanding of machines and tools being used. Knowledge of and experience in lubrication procedures for all types of heavy and light equipment common to heavy construction and oilfield service industries. Ability to maintain preventative maintenance records. Ability to work closely with mechanics. Ability to give and receive oral safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments. Ability to use hand and power tools. Ability to read and understand job descriptions, safety/technical manuals, and safety/warning signs. Ability and willingness to wear safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, face shields, and additional personal protective equipment. Responsibilities: Lubricates moving parts of heavy equipment throughout the facility. Changes oil in machine reservoirs; cleans and replaces oil filters. Ensures that automatic lubrication equipment operates correctly, replacing empty drums or malfunctioning lines. Fills automatic dispensers, oil cans, and oil cups. Identifies machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance through provided work orders and specifications. Identifies when and what type of preventive maintenance is required for heavy equipment; performs the maintenance, reporting any need for additional maintenance or repairs to supervisor. Completes logs, reports, or other documentation related to the installation, replacement, modification, or changing of machine parts and attachments. Removes superfluous oil and grease from machinery, tools, and floor. Complies with applicable federal, state, and company laws, regulations, and guidelines regarding health, safety, and environmental protection. Performs other related duties as assigned Physical Demands / Working Environment: Prolonged periods standing, crouching, bending, climbing, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, and pulling in order to perform job. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
