Description Our Behavioral Services department is searching for full-time Housing Support Specialists to collaborate with transitional tenants. As Housing Specialist, you will assist transitional tenants toward housing self-sufficiency and provide oversight of transitional housing maintenance. You will accomplish this by: Meeting with tenants one-on-one to develop service plan goals and assist them in accomplishing those goals, Facilitating connection to community resources such as medical and mental health services, Provide housing support to tenants including move-in, safety inspection, and submitting maintenance requests, and Responding to crisis situations effectively and professionally. The Transitional Housing program is a short term 3-6 months temporary housing program for Westmoreland County adults (18+) residents who are homeless with a mental health diagnosis or co-occurring disorder. The program is intended to assist individuals with complex issues related to supports and the inability to maintain stable housing. We (Westmoreland Community Action) are a non-profit organization that works to connect individuals and families to opportunities and resources throughout the community to improve their quality of life and help to reduce poverty in the community. This is accomplished through housing, counseling, support, education, intervention, collaborations, partnerships, information, referrals, and networking. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with major coursework in either sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, theology with an emphasis on pastoral counselling, nursing counselling, education or related field, OR High school diploma or equivalency and 12 semester hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology or other social service subjects and two years of experience in public or private human services, of which one year must be mental health direct care experience, OR Six years of experience providing mental health crisis intervention services. Must be able to obtain child abuse, state police, fingerprint-based criminal background check, and sex offender registry clearances. Valid driver's license required and must carry $15,000/$30,000 bodily liability car insurance. Willingness to work a flexible schedule within a 40-hour workweek. Basic computer skills including Microsoft suite.
