Summary About the Position: Carlisle Barracks is an installation at the center of the Army and Department of Defense Senior Leadership educational programs. Carlisle Barracks is one of Central Pa's leading and most respected employers. Responsibilities Answer and route telephone calls after determining nature of calls and customers' needs. Review incoming messages and documents to distribute for further action. Respond to inquiries and provide information to customers. Maintain an automated key and lock control system for issuance and accountability of keys and locks. Report security violations and deficiencies to the building supervisor for physical security purposes. Utilize a daily journal/log to maintain a record of events, incidents, security breaches and other important information. Stock the information desk area with booklets, pamphlets and brochures for public distribution to support the organization. Arrange use of facilities, room layout and IT requirements to support ceremonial, special events and social functions of the organization. Maintain a working knowledge of an organization and its services, to answer questions, and refer callers to the appropriate location for resolution. Assist with the coordination of social functions and events for an organization. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) providing customer service by answering questions; 2) distributing information about the organization's programs to customers; 3) coordinating support for organizational, special events and social functions; and/or 4) utilizing automation systems to generate correspondence, reports and maintain files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
