This position provides technical support for machine set up and operation, as well as leadership for the Shaving, Drilling and Drapper area. The set up person will be responsible to set up and run equipment, communicate directions supplied by the Team Leader and make effective, qualitative decisions based on the information available at the time. Essential Functions Practices and trains operators to work safely. Demonstrates the ability to set up, operate and troubleshoot shaving, drilling and drapping machines. Practices and trains operators to produce quality products utilizing Engineering drawings, process control documents, training materials, CBP's and departmental work instructions. Practices and trains operators to efficiently and effectively maximize the output of the production equipment. Demonstrates the ability to respectively and effectively communicate with operators, supervision and support teams. Demonstrates the safe use of all shop support equipment necessary to prepare or modify tooling to produce products meeting the customer expectations. Practices and trains operators to utilize all internal forms of measuring devices, such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, gages, etc. Evaluates and communicates machine conditions and/or concerns to both maintenance and team leaders. Practices and trains operators to keep machines in best operating conditions, including replacing worn fasteners, machine parts or tooling. Tasks Safely performs and trains operators to complete limited machine /equipment maintenance. Sets and operates shaving, drilling and drapping machines, as required by demand, utilizing the hand or power tools provided. Efficiently produces quality products that meet all expectations. Maintains the entire workplace in a safe, clean operating condition on a daily basis. Coordinates personnel and process to enhance workflow throughout the department based on Team Leader recommendations and customer expectations. Communicates all pertinent and/or necessary information to fellow employees and Team Leaders. Electronically gathers materials for production such as, BOM's, part drawings, tool drawings, production schedules, production requirements, performance reports, etc. Detects and reports faulty machine and/or equipment conditions, material anomalies, part / tool drawing discrepancies or other unusual shop floor activities. Performs other tasks as required. Other Duties Willingness to learn the JDE system to improve personal and departmental performance. Willingness to seek additional training and/or educational advancement to enhance professional career. Requirements Physical Requirements Must be able to lift approximately 40 lbs. from floor level to waist, and waist to floor approximately 5 times per hour. Must be able to stand approximately 8-10 hrs/day. Must be able to work in an unair-conditioned, well ventilated and/or air conditioned shop environment. Able to bend, twist, and squat in sometimes awkward positions for prolonged periods of time while exerting force (pushing or pulling) on hand tools used to adjust machine. Visual acuity for detailed work. Manual dexterity. Education/Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Mechanical Ability
