Job Descriptions: Bard Manufacturing Company, Inc., a leading manufacturer of commercial heating and air conditioning systems, has an opening for a Controls Engineer at our corporate office in Bryan, OH. For 110 years, Bard Manufacturing Company has been a family owned and operated company, leading the HVAC industry in the modular, classroom, equipment shelter, and other light commercial markets. With production facilities in Ohio, Georgia, and Mexico, we service our customers both nationwide and internationally by designing and manufacturing cutting-edge engineered products. Scope and Responsibilities: The Controls Engineer will design and support packaged wall-mount heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment for a manufacturing environment. This engineer will also develop remote terminal, touch, mobile app, and web-based user interfaces for customers to interact with Bard equipment. With the industry moving towards the Internet of Things the Controls Engineer will also need to design and support integration methods for building management systems using various protocols and standards. Duties include, but are not limited to: Work with mechanical, electrical, and other controls engineers in a team environment to update existing and/or design new HVAC equipment using a new product development process to coordinate deadlines and deliverables. Specify, design, and test electrical/controls systems and their components. Work within a software development process that includes software review, peer testing, and team feedback to improve quality. Create and maintain project documentation that includes functional changes to the equipment, user interface changes, process and instrumentation drawings, wiring diagrams, input/output summaries, and sequence of operations. Create and maintain software documentation that includes development change logs, release software change logs, and bug-tracking information. Create and maintain product documentation that includes installation manuals, service instructions, and troubleshooting guides. Identify and implement cost reduction ideas to meet the cost reduction goals of the department. Provide technical support and information to other departments and customers as needed. All other duties as assigned. Required Experience: The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities: Minimum Associate's, preferred Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field. 3-5 years' experience in HVAC controls and/or controls-related field. Ability to program a controller to operate HVAC equipment using Function Block, Structured Text, and/or Java Script programming languages. Highly motivated with a strong desire to get involved in new challenges. Electrical & control system understanding and troubleshooting. HVAC system understanding and troubleshooting. General understanding of Ethernet and serial networks. Troubleshooting protocols such as Modbus, SNMP, SMTP, BACNet. Ability to organize work to meet the departmental goals and objectives.
