We have a great opportunity for a Utility Worker at our Roaring Creek/Shamokin location. The Utility Worker I will report directly to the Field Supervisor and be responsible for repairing main breaks and service leaks, installation of new services, and repairing/replacing valves and fire hydrants. Duties also include performing water main mark outs in accordance with the requirements of the PA One Call regulations. The Utility Worker I will also be responsible for performing monthly leak detection on Aqua facilities using company leak detection equipment. All work and time will be documented through the company's work order system using a wireless handheld device. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Operates and maintains water distribution system facilities, such as water mains, valves, hydrants, service lines, etc. Utilizes company technology to ensure assigned work is captured within work order management applications. Ensures daily work complies with EPA and PUC regulatory requirements for operations. Ensures that daily work complies with established company safety policies and procedures. Operates and performs maintenance on all equipment and vehicles used in the maintenance of the water system. Reads and interprets maps, drawings, and schematics to include GIS data. Performs field service representative and meter reading work as assigned. Satisfactorily meets internal and external customer requirements through effective communication and initiative. Proficient in communicating via email and text. This position may involve operating a backhoe, excavator, dump truck, and other company vehicles. This position requires using the following tools: hand tools, power tools, pavement saws, pipe saws, compressors, generators, jackhammers, and compacting equipment. Responds to after hour calls to for emergency and non-emergency situations as required. Available for scheduled overtime. All other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent. Valid U.S. driver's license A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) must be attained within 90 days of hire. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Construction or mechanical background preferred. Candidate must be able to pass the DOT Medical exam as required as part of hiring process. Ability to lift 100lbs. Proficiency with computers, Microsoft office applications as well as web-based systems. The position requires passing the PA Waterworks Distribution E licensing exam within (36) thirty-six months of date of hire. The pos tion requires obtaining a Class A CDL within 120-days from date of hire. Rate of pay: $23.08 #All employees hired or entering the bargaining unit on or after May 24, 2017, will receive three dollars ($3.00) per hour less than the classification wage rate. The wage reduction will be returned in one dollar ($1.00) increases once a year over a three (3) year period. Employee will receive annual contract increases.
