UPMC is excited to invite you to apply for the Patient Services Representative position This full-time role features day shift hours from 7:45 a.m. to 5p.m., with a requirement of 2-3-night shifts per month, ending at 7p.m. There are no holidays or weekends required. Apply today to join a great team and receive a robust Totals Reward package Responsibilities: Assist patients in navigating the healthcare system by providing clear, understandable instructions and follow-up on unresolved questions or needs to ensure continuity of care. Perform administrative tasks such as scanning medical records and faxing documents to support office operations. Guide patients through self-arrival technology or check them in at the desk based on their preference. Schedule ancillary services or connect patients to resources for scheduling at checkout. Apply principles of service recovery to address and resolve service issues, ensuring alignment with the UPMC Experience. Educate patients about financial responsibilities and connect them with advocacy resources as needed. Obtain patient or family consent for treatment and financial responsibility in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Verify insurance benefits through online systems or phone inquiries, and promote the MyUPMC patient portal, assisting with registration as applicable. Collect copayments and other patient payments at the point of service, and provide a warm greeting to all patients. Register patients in the Biometrics program, explaining its benefits, and confirm or update patient registration information at checkout. Distribute or triage phone calls appropriately to other areas or clinical providers and schedule follow-up appointments within the practice at checkout. Required: Completion of high school graduate or equivalent Preferred: Experience with personal computer-based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills Two years of experience in a medical / billing / fiscal or customer service function Knowledge of medical terminology Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Act 34 UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
