Academic Service Officer II- School of Social Work Wayne State University is searching for an experiencedAcademic Service Officer II- School of Social Workat its Detroit campus location. Essential functions (job duties): The Office of Field Education in the School of Social Workplaces roughly 650 students with various agencies throughout the metropolitan Detroit area. The department utilizes roughly 25 Faculty Field Liaisons and 4 Placement Assistants. The School of Social Work is seeking an Academic Services Officer II to coordinate the field placement activities for BSW, MSW and MSW advanced year students within the School of Social Work. Assist Assistant Director of Field Studies with coordinating the placement of BSW, MSW & MSW advance year students with agencies that will fulfill the field education requirement with the School of Social Work curriculum. Serve as one of the Placement Assistants. Meet with students to define which agency /agencies would be the best placement. Advise and mediate student issues and success concerns. Develop, plan and implement orientation for students. Serve on Scholarship Committee. Assist Assistant Director of Field Studies with recruitment of new agency sites. Process new Agency applications and process affiliation agreements along with site visits. Liaison with Field Instructors. Responsible for the orientation of all Field Instructors. Assist with deve lo pment, planning and implementing Continuing Education courses for the Field instructors which may include obtaining guest speakers. Update and maintain the Field Education Manual. Recommend, implement and maintain Field Education Curriculum. Serve on the Field Education Advisory Committee. Provide reports on the success of the Field Placements. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Master's degree in social work. Must be a Licensed Master Social Worker, licensed by State of Michigan Department of Licensing & Regulatory Affairs. Two years post MSW degree, some experience working with students in higher education. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Business Skills- Ability to work independently. Ability to handle multiple demands. Understands objectives and looks for ways to improve processes and quality. Identify and resolves problems in a timely manner. Communication Skills-Effective interpersonal and customer service skills writes clearly and informatively. Responds courteously to requests for service and assistance. Maintain confidentiality of students, personnel and management in formation. Analytical Skills, ability to quickly identify and understand problems and select appropriate resolutions.
