School of Education Visiting Assistant Professor of Practice with a focus on Community College Leadership Department of Educational Foundations, Organizations, and Policy Position: Visiting Assistant Professor of Practice with a focus on Community College Leadership (Appointment-stream) Appointment: 12-month, part-time, appointment stream: starting August 15, 2024 The Department of Educational Foundations, Organizations, and Policy at the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a part-time Assistant Professor of Practice (appointment stream) in community college leadership. We seek a seasoned practitioner-scholar who can contribute to how we are reimagining the important intersections, connections, and educational pathways offered to students from community colleges to four-year institutions. This position calls for a longstanding leader committed to advancing strategic goals and instructions and strengthening partnerships, specifically with community colleges. We are seeking an individual with executive leadership experience in community college administration. As an expert in residence, the individual would be a key resource on innovative community college projects and programming. We seek a colleague whose work creatively engages educational opportunities for securing pathways from community college, expanding postsecondary access and partnerships in rural communities, and extending professional development opportunities for community college educators. Responsibilities: Serve as liaison for community college pathways programs. Develop and teach graduate courses in community college leadership/higher education administration. Increase transfer articulation agreements with community colleges. Advance the School of Education's offerings of non-credit to credit-bearing courses utilizing the ProPitt program for community college personnel continuing education. Provide outreach, recruitment, and program management of the Community College Leadership program. Work collaboratively with the School of Education and the Department of Educational Foundations, Organizations, and Leadership faculty members, including engaging in University, School, and Department committees, projects, and programs. Required qualifications: Earned doctorate before the appointment (degree must be posted before August 15, 2024) from an accredited University in Educational Leadership or a related field. Evidence of substantive knowledge in educational administration and leadership, along with schooling skills and pedagogy in the community college setting. Evidence of commitment to student success and actively engaged in relationship and partnership development both internally and externally. Experience as a senior scholar-practitioner with a minimum of 10 years experience as a senior executive leader (i.e., c-suite level) at a community college. Preferred qualifications: Experience in community college settings, particularly in rural areas. Previous teaching experience in a higher education setting. Demonstrated executive community college leadership experience (e.g., CEO, CAO, CLO, CBO). Responsible for the School's deployment of Community college-related credit-bearing programs, noncredit continuing education, and support for workforce education. Background in generating universal articulation and transfer agreements at scale. Review of application materials will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
