Come work where you play!This Position is at Mildale Farm in Edgerton KS. The Mildale staff is responsible for a 80-acre parcel of ground inside the Big Bull Creek Park of the Southwest Region. Mildale Farm is a unique property that is rented out weekly for events. Mildale is also a nationally recognized venue for weddings.Essential Duties:Serves as Park worker at Mildale Farm; assists crews in completing assignments; occasionally trains crew members; ensures safety standards are met; completes paperwork, timesheets and equipment logs; assists in the coordination and direction of staff; serves as a lead in supervisors absence.Operates vehicles or powered equipment; completes commercial mowing and snow removal; applies chemicals and spreads fertilizers, herbicides and soil amendments; mulches tree beds, plants trees and flowers; aerates and seeds landscaping; trims and prunes shrubs and trees; repairs soil erosion; oversees turf and chemical applications; completes complex tasks, and repairs.Performs general, routine, and complex maintenance of light and medium duty equipment; rebuilds and repairs equipment and trailers; changes over from mowing equipment to snow equipment; performs basic maintenance duties such as painting, light plumbing, cleaning of shop and equipment areas; builds, fixes, and maintains fencing; completes basic preventative maintenance on buildings. Facility maintenance of 4 buildings, to include dry wall repairs, electricalproblem solving, HVAC problem solving, and basic preventive maintenanceon homes.Performs various tasks requiring equipment, vehicle, and tool operation; uses a variety of small and large tools and operates a variety of light and medium duty equipment and attachments including: tractors, trucks, dump trucks, skid steer loader, water trucks, compact rollers, excavator, power broom, boom truck, and snow removal equipment.Completes paperwork, timesheets, work orders and equipment logs using computerized system; follows purchasing card guidelines to ensure accuracy in the approval process.Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.This position performs field level maintenance duties that include snow removal, mowing, trimming, weeding, trash collection, cleaning of grounds, shelter houses, picnic areas and restrooms. The position will perform regular maintenance and repairs on vehicles, tractors, and small engines and the candidates must have the ability to perform duties related to repairs to plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other construction related duties.A high school diploma or equivalent is required.Preferred Job Requirements:Two years’ experience in tree care, golf course maintenance or grounds maintenance and similar level of experience operating mowers and associated equipment.Education/Experience Substitutions:Experience may be substituted for degree.Education may be substituted for experience.Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:Sensory abilities, including special vision and/or hearing.Excessive standing and/or walking: 50 %Exposure to extreme temperatures.Exposure to fumes and/or chemicals.Exposure to heights.Exposure to loud noises.Lifting 50 lbs.Weather essential jobAll JCPRD employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.Uniform RequiredTravel required 25% local and 5% outside of county.JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions.
