Job The Riverdale YM-YWHA (Riverdale Y) is offering an exciting opportunity for a creative, energetic, highly-organized, and experienced informal or formal educator to coordinate its off-site Kid's Space Afterschool Program in Riverdale. If you are passionate about supporting school-age children through high quality programming and care in a community-oriented setting with a professionally-trained staff team, this is the right position for you. Our Kid's Space off-site program is under the supervision of Riverdale Y's Family and Youth Services Department and works closely with Kid's Space @ Y in developing programming, coordinating school-vacation "camp" programs, and leadership training. This program currently serves over 130 children. This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Family and Youth Services. The position is expected to begin in October 2024. Job Responsibilities:Oversee administration and management of Kid's Space off-site program with support from Director of Family and YouthCultivate strong working relationships with faculty, staff, and parent association of off-site school location to create the highest quality afterschool programmingWork closely with Director of Family and Youth to hire, train, and supervise after school counselors and instructors Work closely with Riverdale Y staff to develop recruitment and registration strategies and implementationOrganize and execute enrichment programming for Kid's Space participants as well as children seeking individual enrichment classes Recruit, plan, hire staff for, and help direct school-vacation "camp" programs for winter break, President's week, spring break and other school vacation days with the Camp, Family and Youth DepartmentManage the program budget Work with the Director of Family and Youth to maintain up-to-date permits, licensing and records for afterschool siteProvide proper customer service and follow-through for all families registered in or inquiring about afterschool and school-vacation camp programsRecruit, register, and plan for upcoming year during the summer monthsWork with Camp Twelve Trails or another Y summer program during the summer months in appropriate capacity This position is full-time, Monday to Friday, with occasional Sundays and holidays to support Kid's Space and Riverdale Y programs throughout the calendar year. The salary range is $50,000-$60,000 commensurate with experience and education. Minimum Qualifications: Job Qualifications: The ideal candidate has strong experience in formal or informal youth settings. Candidates should possess the following qualities and experience:Warm and welcoming personality, relating well to children and able to partner confidentially with parentsSound supervisory and people skills, including the ability to inspire, mentor and develop youth professionals with differing levels of experience as well as set clear boundaries and expectationsCalm under pressure, customer service-oriented, flexible, and possessing a good sense of humorAbility to assess and strategize appropriate care for children based on the situation and to work with their familiesAbility to develop and implement creative, safe and challenging curriculum for children Ability to work collaboratively, as part of the Riverdale Y team, with colleagues, direct reports and supervisorsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsHighly-organized with attention to detail and follow-through, and ability to multitaskExtensive administrative and planning experienceExcellent computer skills and experience using social media to market programs Experience with budget development and administrationFluency with Microsoft Office or Google Apps Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Jewish Communal Service, or related field; SACC License preferredKnowledge of Jewish holidays, traditions and culture and the ability to integrate this into staff training and an age-appropriate afterschool curriculum is an assetAbout Riverdale YM-YWHA:Riverdale Y is a 50,000 sq. ft.
