LHH is looking for a Veterans Benefits Paralegal for a law firm in Racine, WI. This person will work directly with a Partner at the firm in the Veterans Benefits Department to do the Paralegal duties but also to assist the Partner with the day to day processes in the division. This person will assist veterans in navigating the complexities of the benefits process. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive legal support to attorneys and clients, focusing on veterans' disability claims, appeals, and other related legal matters. This role requires a passion for helping veterans, strong attention to detail, and a deep understanding of veterans' benefits laws and regulations.Key Responsibilities:Assist veterans and their families in preparing and filing VA disability claims and appeals.Review, organize, and manage veterans' medical records, service documents, and claim files.Prepare legal documents, correspondence, and briefs related to veterans' benefits cases.Conduct legal research on veterans' benefits laws, regulations, and case law.Maintain and update case files, ensuring accuracy and compliance with municate with clients, attorneys, and Veterans Affairs (VA) representatives to gather necessary information and provide case updates.Assist attorneys in hearing preparation, including organizing exhibits, summarizing medical records, and preparing witness statements.Track and monitor the progress of claims and appeals through the VA system.Ensure confidentiality and security of client records and information.Qualifications:2+ years of experience in veterans' benefits or disability law preferred.Strong knowledge of VA claims and appeals processes.Excellent organizational, research, and writing skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, attorneys, and VA representatives.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with case management software preferredAbility to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced mitment to serving the veteran community with professionalism and empathy.Salary $50,000 - $75,000Benefits: Health, Dental, Life, Vision, Short term disability, Vacation/sick days, 401k with match.
