We design and manufacture high end made to order and custom clothing. Every day we are stitching something unique. We are currently accepting applications for: Job Title: Head Seamstress Reports to: Head Designer/ Owner of Tara Lynn, LLC Hours and Location: Full-time, in house, hourly position, 30 hours a week, T-F, in Sutton, Vermont Wage: Starts at $20 per hour. The primary responsibility for this position is to perform daily sewing operations as assigned while maintaining satisfactory production and quality levels. Responsible for operating and tending all various sewing machines in house including overlock, 5 thread safety lock, lock stitch, buttonhole, pressing equipment, electric cutting tools, and more. Expected to follow specs to perform garment sewing operations from start to finish record issues and communicate clearly with Team. Garment production includes wedding gowns, sportswear, knits, woven and tailored suits. Tasks include alterations, hand sewing, embroidery, finishing and quality control. Responsibilities: Sample making and production sewing of wedding gowns, jackets, knits, mens and womens apparel. Starts and operates or tends machines that join, reinforce, or decorate material Sets up machines for production; adjusts machine functions according to fabric Bastes material to align and temporarily secure garment parts for assembly. Performing routine maintenance, such as oiling machine, and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed,schedules repair mechanic when necessary. Cuts material and threads, using scissors. Inspects garments and examines garment to locate defects or damage. Records number of garment parts or complete garments sewn. Demonstrates a team mindset by being cooperative with other associates Oversees other production sewers, including auditing and training, etc. Maintains satisfactory attendance Qualifications: Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent 5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard procedures within sewn garment manufacturing. Experience and knowledge of sewing with knits and wovens Ability to read and comprehend detailed sewing specifications. Knowledge of inputs, outputs, raw materials, waste, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing the manufacture and distribution of goods Ability to lift up to up to 40 lbs Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance Experience inspecting and evaluating the quality of products Ability to determine what is causing an operating error and deciding what to do about it Ability to be Sitting and/or standing for long periods.
