This job was posted by : For more information, please see: August 2024 City of Malvern 2024 Animal Control Officer Supervisor Department: City of Malvern Animal Control Reports to: Mayor Job Descrip on GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The Animal Control Supervisor oversees the opera ons of the City of Malvern Animal Shelter, manages animal control ac vi es, and supervises staff (including volunteers) while enforcing animal-related ordinances and state laws regarding animal welfare and ensuring public safety. Key Responsibili es: Supervise and manage Animal Control Officers and shelter staff (including volunteers). Oversees shelter opera ons, including the maintenance, cleanliness, and sanitary condi ons of the City of Malvern Animal Shelter and animal care. Maintaining the Animal Shelter budget and expenses. Responsible for the safety, maintenance and cleanliness of assigned City vehicles. Respond to calls and complaints from the pubic and Police Officers for viola ons of the City Ordinances and State Law concerning animals. Captures and restrains animals by using rope, snares, and tranquilizer dart guns; transports captured animals to Animal Shelter. Inves gates alleged viola ons of animal laws and ordinances; interviews suspected violators and witnesses and gathers appropriate physical evidence; obtains and serves seizure warrants. Maintain records and operate radio and/or telephone equipment. Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual ac vity reports. Prepare lis ng of cita ons issues. Maintain monthly cita on records. Prepare monthly reports for the City Council. Give accurate tes mony in court on behalf of the department in City Ordinance and State Law viola ons, and on any other incidents which you may have knowledge of as required; ensure that the court is advised of fees due and/or res tu on amounts. August 2024 Answer telephones and return calls to the public. May supervise community service workers, student workers, and volunteers. May supervise and train new personnel as assigned. Advise supervisor of unusual findings and observa ons. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Work with the public and shelter volunteers to ac vely a empt to adopt suitable animals out to ci zens. This duty is performed weekly, about 25% of the me. 2. When necessary, use deadly force to terminate vicious or diseased animals as required to protect the public and/or yourself. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the me. 3. When necessary, arrange for and carry out euthanasia of animals. This duty is performed monthly, about 10% of the me. 4. Collect and properly dispose of dead animals within the City. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the me. 5. Address mee ngs at community and civic organiza ons and schools. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the me. 6. Must maintain a high standard of personal hygiene, and always maintain a neat, clean, well groomed, and professional appearance. This duty is performed daily, about 100% of the me. 7. Wear the prescribed uniform and equipment in accordance with policy and supervisors orders. This duty is performed daily, about 100% of the me. 8. Responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, and sanitary condi ons of the City of Malvern Animal Shelter; Responsible for the safety, maintenance and cleanliness of assigned City vehicles; Respond to calls and complaints from the public and Police Officers for viola ons of the City Ordinances and State Law concerning animals; Capture and restrain animals by using ropes, snares, and tranquilizer dart guns; transports captured animals to Animal Shelter. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the me. 10. Serves on call outside normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays as required. This duty is performed weekly, about 10% of the me. 11. Disposes of dangerous, injured, and dead animals found on the street. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the me. 12. Chase, trap, capture, control, and care for animals, some vicious and/or dangerous or diseased, in the course of daily du es. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the me. August 2024
